One Reference Photo Three Paintings

An autumn inspired art exploration

I recently created a mini series of gouache art paintings all from one reference photo. This technique is not unique and I thought I would try it out with one of the recent landscape photos I took on my trip away.

The trip away was in early autumn and though our trip away is a colder climate, most of the deciduous trees still had green leaves, I decided I wanted to embody autumn in these paintings.

Another unique (to me) thing that I did with these paintings was to paint them simultaneously. This meant that I could use paint more conservatively and use less paint overall. An efficient way to create multiple paintings!

Here are the finished works:

I think I may do this for my next landscape series. However, right now, I am exploring florals again. A random gouache flower print. I was considering just using it as a decoration for my own home. This next painting is almost complete and I am inspired to create a little series of florals.

The next landscape series will have to wait, maybe I might do a winter inspired one and that will probably have to be mostly embodied through colour as I do not live in a place that gets too cold.
